Week 13 and 14: Video Review

1.In the Lowdown on Lowbrow: West Coast Pop Art I learned that it is sometimes considered a form of porn and in this video and to a lot of people porn is almost always considered to be sort of low class.
In the Displaying Modern Art: The Tate Approach I learned about how art is arranged when put together.
In Bones of Contention: Native American Archaeology you learn that there is a scientific debate about how the Native Americans were unearthed throughout the US.
In An Acquiring Mind: Philippe de Montebello and the Metropolitan your learnd about the life of Philippe de Montebello.

2. I think they do because by watching these videos is gives me an idea on what I would like to do for my project and how I would like to ultimately look.

3. I liked the films because they gave me good ideas that I think will help when creating my project.

Module 12: Video Review

1. The two videos I picked were Andy Warhol: Images of an Image and Hockney on Photography because they sounded the most interesting to me.

2. In Andy Warhol: Images of an Image I learned about Andy Warhol’s life and the impact that he had on the pop art movement. In the Image of Hockney you learn about David Hockney and his life as a photographer.

3. The video on Andy Warhol was very interesting and also matched up with some things in the text but the video on David Hockney wasn’t as in depth in text as it was in the video.

4. I liked both videos and I found it interesting about both artists and how they started and than eventually did things to help better the professions that they were in.

Art Gallery Visit #2

Questions about the exhibit:
1. Decade Contemporary Collection 2002-2012
2. The theme was this decade.

Questions about the physical space:
1. Direct light but in two of the artworks they used fluorescent light in the actual works.
2. The walls were white.
3. Materials used where the fluorescent lights and one work of art was set inside a glass case.
4. The movement seemed to be in a circular movement around the space of the gallery.

Questions about the artwork:
1. They are put together neatly and almost in a symmetrical fashion.
2. Two of the artworks use light but all three have numerous colors in them.
3. They are all very different shapes or ideas. One is a set of fluorescent lights in a long row, one is six lights all in boxes, and one looks like a mash of things put together with what looks to be a lot like glue.
4.The ones in fluorescent lights are just mounted on the wall and set on the flood but the last in a glass case.
5. They all have a card or plaque mounted on the wall giving the title and all the information about the artwork on them.
6. They are all in the same area. If you stand in the middle of each you can see them all with out having to move closer to any of them.

Module 11: Video Review

1. I chose Expressionism and Matisse and Picasso because they both sounded most interesting to me.

2. What I learned in Expressionism was some history on expressionism itself and some reasons why artists would do the work they did in expressionism form. In Matisse and Picasso I got to learn about the lives of both these great artists and I found out things about them that I never knew before.

3. Both films added more depth to text. They talked about a lot of the same things and it is always easier to put pictures and people to what you read.

4. I found both of the films interesting and they helped me to understand more what I what in the text.

Mask Project

1) I chose these masks because I found them interesting and also I found them very similar in both shape and style and found that to be very interesting.

2) In these masks there is a lot of shape and mass along with a lot of line detail to bring out the detail in each one of these masks.

3)

4) In my mask I tried to mass and shape along with line to help show the detail in my makes face and the distinctiveness from the separation of the colors in my mask.

5) My mask may not look like much but it actually took me a long time to create. I can just image the time it took some of the people to make the masks that were on the websites we viewed. Those masks had great detail and probably took a lot of time and planning to create. I had fun making the masks and trying to come up with an idea I just don't think I have the best creative mentality for this kind of thing.

Module 10: Video Review

1) The two videos that I watch were African Art and Chinese Art: Treasures of the National Palace Museum. I choose these two videos because they both sounded most interesting to me.

2) In the African Art video I learned that art is a big part of there culture and very important. Also art in Africa is part of their everyday life. In the Chinese Art: Treasure of the National Palace Museum I learned that there is art in the museum that almost no one has ever seen outside of the museum.

3) The videos related to the text pretty well they were both mentioned in the text and the video just gave me more of visual perspective on what I read in the text.

4) The films were very informative and they helped me get more of a visual for what I read. Also the videos went a little bit more in depth because each video was a specific video on a specific type of art and had more of a luxury to go more in depth than the text.
